A design brief, spoken in the kitchen

Cindy records what she needs while working. A transcript reaches our AI agent, so it can begin designing the mooncake information cards she described.

Cindy is busy making all kinds of food for Chloe’s Mama Kitchen. She has limited time to sit in front of a computer or use her phone, but she often thinks of things that need doing while she is working. We wanted a way for her to pass those tasks to our AI agent without having to type them out first.

We built a workflow around a Plaud recorder because we found it convenient to use. Cindy presses a button to start recording and puts it nearby. She can keep working and explain what she needs. She is not holding the recorder while she cooks.

In our setup, once she stops the recording, it uploads to the cloud and is transcribed. Our AI agent can retrieve that transcript through the Plaud MCP/API connection we use. The spoken request then becomes something the agent can work from.

A recent example came while Cindy was preparing mooncakes. She wanted small introduction cards to go inside the mooncake boxes, mainly explaining what ingredients the mooncakes contain. That gave her a specific design task to describe while she was already in the kitchen.

She started the recorder beside her and explained what she wanted made, who the cards were for, what they needed to achieve and the details to include. After she finished speaking and pressed stop, the recording became a transcript and reached the agent. The agent then began working on the design.

For me, the useful change is that Cindy can give a brief in the place where the need comes to mind. She supplies the knowledge about her food and what customers need to know; the agent can pick up the design work from her words. In this example, we had reached the point where design had begun. The finished cards and printing are a later step.

Part 12: Making time for small-business opportunities

Clay storybook kitchen scene with Mama cooking beside a recorder on a shelf, sound waves leading to fictional transcript pages and card drafts, and two children in the doorway.
An AI-generated story illustration using our website’s family characters. The recorder, kitchen, transcript and card drafts are fictional, not a product photograph, actual ingredient information or proof of finished cards.
