Setting up Square with the menus Cindy had already posted

Before opening the shop, Cindy already had a home baking and catering business. I gave Codex a simple task: go through her Facebook menu posts and add the items to Square.

Before we opened the shop, Cindy had already been doing home baking and home catering for a while. The business was already running, and she had been posting her menus on Facebook.

The previous story was about our logo and design system. Another job in preparing the shop was setting up a point-of-sale system. We chose Square.

That brought a lot of information to enter. We already had the products and menus, but getting the items into Square was time-consuming.

So I asked my AI agent, Codex, to go to Cindy’s Facebook page, work through her menu posts, pick out the items and add them to Square. That was the task I gave it, in a simple prompt.

Her Facebook posts were useful source material for this job. They contained the menus she had been sharing while running the business from home, so I could point the agent to information we already had.

This was another part of getting the shop ready: carrying the existing business information into the tools we would use there. For this task, I could describe where the information was and what I wanted done with it in a short instruction.

Part 6: From Chloe’s drawing to our design system
