Why ours tastes like Penang

Bright, herbal, sour, savoury — every spoonful tells a story.

深藏南洋古早味

One of Malaysia's must-try dishes — deeply comforting, distinctly Penang. We simmer fresh mackerel into the broth itself, then build flavour with hand-pounded rempah, tamarind and asam keping.

A finishing drizzle of hae ko (black prawn paste) brings the unmistakable savoury depth that separates real assam laksa from imitations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between assam laksa and curry laksa? +

Curry laksa (like our chicken laksa) has a rich coconut-milk curry broth. Assam laksa has no coconut at all — it's a tangy tamarind and fresh-mackerel broth from Penang, topped with garden herbs and hae ko (black prawn paste). Both appear on our rotating menu.

When can I get assam laksa? +

It appears on our weekly rotation — check this week's menu on the website or Facebook page (posted Mondays and Saturdays) for availability and pricing, and order early, because it sells out.
