Simple ingredients, but the whole dish stands or falls on two things: the fragrance of the rice and the depth of the sambal. Ours is cooked down slowly until the chilli turns sweet and dark, exactly the way it's done back home.
We pair it with Mama's homecooked free-range curry chicken — potatoes, lemongrass and a rempah she blends herself. Malaysian customers tell us it tastes like their mother's, which is the only review that matters.

How spicy is it? +
The sambal has a proper kick but is cooked sweet-and-slow in the Malaysian home style — flavourful heat rather than raw fire. The curry chicken is mild enough for kids.
